2 Typical Applications
- Detection ofHotMetal or Hot Product in a Rod Mill, Bar Mall, Rolling Mill,PlateMill, Roughing Mill, Hot Strip Mill or other Steel MillandIndustrial Applications.
The fully digital “All-in-One” Hot Metal Detector incorporates a bar display showing the IR input signal relative to the pre-set trip level as well as selected programmable thresholds and response times via simple external programming switch action. Operates via highly sensitive and stable InGaAs Photodiode, detection is assured via the heaviest water and steam.
The utilizes a modular digital Controller inprotectivemounting Cradle, flexible armored optic leads andinterchangeableRemote Lenses. As the controller can be used inconjunction withany lens option one standard controller can be usedthroughout themill. Now there is no need to stock a detector foreachrequirement. Costly multiple inventory can be replaced withonedetector.
A wide variety of remote lenses impervious to water & steamarebuilt to withstand the harshest environments are available.Used inconjunction with flexible armored optic leads, these lensesprovidea high level of optical accuracy by allowing the selectionof theideal lens arrangement for the installation. Robust lenseswithtemperature ratings of 180°C, 400°C and 1000°C can be mountedcloseto the hot product. Various robust lens mounts areavailableincluding air purged, air purged with air cooling and airpurgedwith water cooling.
The remote lenses incorporate filters to minimize sensitivitytoextraneous light. For general tracking, spot lenses arecommonlyused. Where high accuracy is required or the productdeviates aboutthe center line (i.e. Rod Mill) a ½° x 25° precisionslitrectangular lens should be utilized. This lens is alsohighlysuited to Strip Mills. Also available is the 1000°C ShroudedQuartzRod Lens, specifically engineered for mounting in the harshandhigh ambient environment below the line or inside themillstand.
